When my hubby selected this week's color I was excited, however when the week finally arrived and I had to actually go find the color I thought I would never find it! I almost gave up and started to scour my archives for a shot when one night my boys begged me to play a game with them and since I was tired of looking at my screen editing through my seemingly unending list of completed photo sessions, I decided it was time for a break and surrendered to their pleas. It wasn't until after about the third round of "Don't Break the Ice", that I realized the little guy that sits on the ice (which by the way is not the same guys who sat on the ice when I played the game as a kid) was the color I was hunting!
So, I grabbed my camera started capturing our game! I quickly had to dig out the flash since the little hands attempting the break the ice moved way too fast for my camera to capture them in such low light. Not to mention, that little guy didn't spend much time on top of the ice since my boys felt the object of the game was to break the ice as fast as they could.
Well, I had hopes of capturing something grand and striking with such a bold color as my muse, however I almost resorted to dusting off an oldie until I decided to slow down and enjoy my everyday and the color found me! One of the reason's I started this project in the first place was to slow down and take notice of the world around me through color and that world includes theses moments of laughter in my every day.
So although I hope some of you get amazing striking captures of this bold color, my added challenge to you, especially those who need to slow down and take a break from work, is to find the bold color in something more monotonous and every day. Too often we forget those ordinary days are what make life great!
Good luck hunting this week's color...the bold orangey red SCARLET
Happy color hunting,
Brooke
p.s. I am going to try something a little different with our color prompt pictures with our next set of four colors (starting with week 13), so hopefully it works!
