Bittersweet {Shana}

These little cuties I shot last summer while in Turkey. They lived at the outside restaruant that we played games.

Well, our moving in date is getting closer!! I actually drove by our new house today and they were moving out!! I have spent the last few days getting furniture and odds and ends. I am loving it. Have a wonderful weekend!

This is a silly photo of my husband! He is usually a very serious, let's get the job done, kind of guy. There are times when he comes out of that and is just plain funny! I also love that he doesn't read this blog sooo he will never know about this photo!!

Blue Violet {Shana}

I just love storms, don't you? Unfortuanlty we haven't had any in a few months. So, this photo was in the archives but I just love everything about it!

I also had a really neat cloud picture but blogger can't seem to get it uploaded.
Josh and I finally bought a house! We hope to be closing at the end of this month, it's getting busy around here. Hope to share photos and our journey moving in. Have a great weekend!

Violet-Blue {Shana}

I am so ashamed that I missed my post last week!! :( As you all know my momma (Sheryl) is in town, we both missed cause we have been with each other every waking moment!! We were discussing the other day how we never thought we would be living in different countries!

 Anywho, I am going to switch gears here and go back to Josh and I's road trip.

I would say this was the highlight of our trip. I love history and I marvel at how people lived back in the day. Anything, from the pioneer era I am there!

Cadet Blue {Shana}

I am sure all of us at one time in our childhood had something that we cherished. Mine was a Raggedy Ann doll my mom made when I was very young. She went everywhere with me and even got a few haircuts along the way. I really have never lost my love for Raggedy Ann and hope to use that theme in a nursery one day. So anytime I see Raggedy Ann and Andy anywhere I have to buy them!!

My sweet friend has been on the "look out" for me and she found this precious figurine at our local auction.

I still can't get over this amazing weather we are having!! I hope you all have a chance to enjoy it!

Forrest Green {Shana}

 I am in love with this photo. Who knew I could get such an incredible photo while moving in a vehicle? This was in the northern part of Yellowstone National Park. I really can't get tired of nature, it is an ever changing but constant part of our daily lives. I know I am guilty of just driving right by the beauty around me but I do find myself at times amazed by God's creation!

This little guy was on the side of the road watching a Ranger, who made us drive on past. So this was a drive by shooting! ;) hehe

Raw Sienna {Shana}

I love books, paperback, hard cover, e-book, leather bound, old, and new! I love to smell old books, I get strange looks, even from those I love. I know there are people out there as weird and strange as me, at least that's what I keep telling myself.

I just ordered this lovely book a few days ago. I sat last night and scanned the whole book, I can't wait to delve into it!! If you haven't ever read Scott Kelby, you should. He is hilarous! I never thought I could laugh while going through a photography book!

I am so ready for this heat wave to be over... I think I will stay in and work through my new book!! ;)

Wisteria {Shana}

I AM SO SORRY!! I just realized that it was at the end of the day and I hadn't posted. I was just going along with my day, unpacking, laundry, painting my nails and other Saturday things. My husband and I just got home from our wonderful trip last night. I can say that this was one trip I was sad to come home. We ended up going through Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska and Missouri. We had such a great time together.

I promise, this was wisteria when I took the photo!!

I have been looking for a fun hat to wear on the lake, pool and just outside. I didn't want one that looked old lady or looked like I gave up and just picked up a droopy hat! So don't laugh when I saw that I found this hat at a children's store and it is size 11-12. Ok I guess you can laugh.

I love lazy days and hope you are enjoying this hot Saturday to the fullest!!

The last few days have been just beautiful here in Oklahoma. I have been spending a lot of time outside reading, taking photos and playing on my computer. During one of these photo capturing session, Chester (mother in laws Collie) was a little curious and he nosed me until I was flat on my back and his nose in my camera. Perfect shot for this week!!

Salmon {Shana}

When Josh and I moved to Turkey we sold our house and most of our furniture. The furniture and other belongings that we kept are scattered between our parents homes. Josh's parents have the stuff that can go in an attic, mine have the heat/cold sensitive things. Anywho, I went to my parents to look for my tripod.... well I didn't find it and ended up going through memory lane. The one thing that I found I have treasured and will treasure for the rest of my life. This is a crazy quilt that my Aunt hand stitched and gave to us as a wedding present. I cannot tell you the hours I  have spent just staring at it. It has hankies from grandmothers, crocheted snowflakes my mom made, an old tie of my dad's, I even think some of my baby clothes and beautiful details. I can't wait to find a home to showcase this beautiful masterpiece in.

Yellow Orange {Shana}

This was yet another Saturday that I let time get away from me. Last night I was at a 10 year old girls birthday slumber party. Her mom had a scavenger hunt, tie dying shirts, crafts and other fun stuff. I had such a great time helping and being apart of it. I also discovered that I am not as resilient as I used to be and this lady needs her beauty sleep!

One of my favorite things is watching thunderstorms, especially sleeping during them.

Asparagus {Shana}

Well, I started my Saturday slow and leisurely, then I realized I haven't posted or even have a photo to post! So you can imagine my panic as I am running around the house trying to find this color. So I recruited my husband (which didn't last long) helped me find these candy jars in the kitchen. I can't tell you how many times these little jars a visited a day, they are a big part of our daily lives. Peanut M&Ms, regular M&Ms and the last jar changes from Reese's pieces and skittles.  Can you tell which one is our favorites?!

Cerulean {Shana}

 It has been fun being home, we have been running around like crazy. I haven't gotten to see everyone that I would like to see just yet, but I have to keep telling myself I am here longer then a month! As I read my mom's post (Sheryl) this morning, it really got me missing Istanbul and all it has to offer. So my post today will be all about my Turkish Pottery.  

This is a trivet from my favorite pottery place. I actually got this piece for free and I didn't spend a dime that day!

This bowl was given to me as a going away present from some incredible ladies! Everytime I look at it I remember each and everyone of them and what they mean to me.

I had to throw in my cup of coffee this moring. It is not quite the color but I loved the steam. This piece is actually one of two that I gave my mother-in-law for Christmas. We are staying with them until we find a house of our own.

Oh I thought of a random fact about myself and thought I would share.

I love junk!! I could spend all day digging through a heap pile just to find that one treasure. I can say that I come by this honestly.

Tumbleweed {Shana}

After 2 planes,9 bags, layovers, customs and one lost bag (which was delivered the next day) we finally made it home! I am not sure if it has really sunk in that we are staying here and this isn't just a visit. I am excited to see what this move means for us and the excitement of the unknown!
I really enjoyed this week and all the fun questions. I thought I would share a few things about myself, since I wasn't able to participate last week.

• Lived in Turkey for 1 year and 2 months
• Crocheting is one of my favorite hobbies
• Dr. Pepper (is there any other kind of pop?)
• I love cooking and baking (I wish someone else would clean up)
• Banana Republic is my favorite store - Although Anthropologie may trump that soon.
• Butterfingers
• I have been dubbed the official photographer of the family. Now I know how my mom felt, she was never in any of the photos!!
• Anything that sparkles is for me! (sparkle was a childhood nickname...my last name was Sparks)
• My favorite color is PINK!!
• Had a hard time thinking of things!

Two days after we moved home we left on a small vacation with my husband's family. We found time between the boys golfing and the girls shopping to head over to Silver Dollar City. I am not sure if I have ever eaten that much food in one day. A diet may be in my near future.

A little red violet and a guest too!

Hi there! Project 64 contributor Shana is a little busy making her transition back to the states, she thought it would be nice to share her day with one of our participants! I thought it was a great idea so I invited not only one of our participants but one of our newest sponsors too! I give you Cindy of WyTography and WyBeadery! 

Everyone collects something, right?  For me, it's always been colored glass bottles.  I love exquisite shapes, interesting textures, off-the-wall colors, and occasionally the odd antique.  At my previous house, I had amassed a huge collection of over 300 bottles, all of which were crammed into every square inch of the space above my kitchen cabinets and window sills.  When we moved to Skiatook a few years ago, I downsized significantly; I now only have enough for two window sills.  You can bet that each one of the bottles I brought with me in the move are beloved for their character, shape, or color.  My submission for red-violet is no exception.  I absolutely adore the hobnail texture of this nearly two-foot tall bottle, not to mention the genie-in-a-bottle shape.  Hooray for garage sales...I think I paid $3 for it!  It now acts as a prism in my bathroom window above the tub next to a couple dozen other beauties.

Pacific Blue {Shana}

Today my husband and I are getting things ready to pack for our move home. So in between cleaning, laundry and a head cold, I had to try to find the color of the week. I took several pictures of objects but just couldn't find the shot I wanted. Then I looked down at my camera strap and there it was.

Magenta {Shana}

I have a gorgeous tulip tree in the front yard of my apartment building. These flowers are everywhere in Turkey and I am told that they originated from this region. I am so glad I was able to be here when these flowers were in bloom because my husband and I have made the decision to move home and start a new chapter of our lives back in the States. Living in a foreign county has been an amazing and life changing experience, one that I will always remember.

Spring Green {Shana}

You know for someone who doesn’t work I sure am a busy girl. Of course, I have got a great group of ladies around me that help keep me that way. I procrastinated and procrastinated on this week’s color (due to my business *cough) and so Friday morning I am looking around trying to find this spring green which I might add is a little too light in my opinion. I finally find it in my “The Guide” to Istanbul book. I just love getting these magazines and seeing what is coming up in this city. Even though the book is in English most of the things that it advertises for is not...but hey at least I know what is going on, right?

Also, I wanted to let you linkers know how much we appreciate your posts. We talk about your postings all week and how incredible they are. Let me tell you it is SO hard trying to find a winner because we are blown away by your creativity. Keep up the good work!

Tickle Me Pink {Shana}

This is a tour bus that is in Sultanamet which is a part of the old Constantinople. I just love going down in this area which has the Grand Baazar, Blue Mosque and Haghia Sophia (and much much more) I have to confess I took this photo 4 months ago and I just loved that it had my nickname “Shan” on the bus and it was pink on top of that! So if I ever had a tour company this would be the name and color for sure!
